Renewable NI

RenewableNI is the voice of the renewable electricity industry. RenewableNI members are building our future energy system, powered by clean electricity. We bring them together to deliver that future faster; a future which is better for industry, billpayers, and the environment. We support member companies as we work together to achieve zero carbon electricity by 2035. Our members are business leaders, technology innovators, and expert thinkers from right across industry. As a collaboration between Wind Energy Ireland and RenewableUK, RenewableNI also work closely with both trade bodies on issues impacting the renewable electricity industry across the UK and Ireland.

Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (NIE Networks)

Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (NIE Networks) is the owner of the electricity transmission and distribution networks in Northern Ireland (NI), transporting electricity to 910,000 customers, including homes, businesses and farms.

Phoenix Energy

Phoenix is the owner and operator of the largest gas distribution network in Northern Ireland (NI), covering an area that encapsulates c.45% of the population of NI, including Greater Belfast, Lisburn, Larne and East Down. Phoenix’s network comprises c.4,000km of intermediate, medium and low-pressure mains, which make gas available to over 350,000 properties of which over 250,000 are already connected.

DAERA

The Green Growth Strategy is the Northern Ireland Executive’s multi-decade strategy, balancing climate, environment and the economy in Northern Ireland. It sets out the long-term vision for tackling the climate crisis in the right way. The focus of Green Growth is ensuring that our natural assets can deliver their full economic potential on a sustainable basis.

Sustainable NI

Sustainable NI is an independent, non-profit membership organisation that guides public and private organisations in addressing sustainability issues and providing solutions to barriers to achieving climate action in Northern Ireland. Since 1998, Sustainable NI has been at the forefront of delivering transformational change. We have successfully embedded sustainability across the public, private, and third sectors, making a significant positive impact on organisations to help them contribute to the protection of our planet.

Londonderry Chamber of Commerce

Londonderry Chamber of Commerce is a business membership organization representing over 360 members based in the North West, who are across all sectors and all sizes. Our mission is simply to help business succeed in a successful North West and increasingly a successful North West means prioritizing sustainability of our environment.

Firmus Energy

Established in 2005, firmus energy operates natural gas distribution networks in over 35 cities, towns and villages throughout Northern Ireland. Firmus energy has invested over £220 million developing our networks, extending to over 2200km and connecting over 70,000 customers.

NI Water

At NI Water, we’re committed to delivering a net zero, climate resilient future for all our customers. Climate change is of particular importance to the water sector given the impact on the quality and quantity of water sources, the carbon intensity of our sector’s supply chain, and the exposure of our assets to extreme weather events. We have challenged ourselves to go further and faster than the already stretching net zero targets set in law. As an operator of a piece of critical national infrastructure, we must be ready for climate change. We know the challenge ahead of us and what we must do.

The Department for the Economy (DfE)

The Department for the Economy (DfE) has a wide range of responsibilities including Economic Policy, Energy, Higher and Further Education, Telecoms and Tourism.

Evolve

Evolve, formerly SGN Natural Gas, is responsible for bringing gas to the west of Northern Ireland. This is one of the most significant energy infrastructure projects ever undertaken in the province. The ‘Gas to the West’ project was conceived to extend the benefits of gas to the towns of Coalisland, Cookstown, Dungannon, Derrylin, Enniskillen, Magherafelt, Omagh, and Strabane. This followed years of campaigning by many interested parties and key stakeholders. Building the new gas network was a monumental task, but one that brings many opportunities for residents and businesses in the licensed area – providing a cleaner, competitive and convenient energy source.

NI Chamber

With 1,000 members, representing over 105,000 employees, Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NI Chamber), has supported the development of the economy for almost 240 years and is 100% funded by the private sector.

Utility Regulator

The Utility Regulator an independent non-ministerial government department, with statutory responsibility for Northern Ireland’s electricity, gas, water, and sewerage industries. We are governed by a publicly appointed Board. Our work is based on our statutory duties which include: ELECTRICITY To protect the interests of electricity consumers in regards to price and quality of service, by promoting effective competition where appropriate. GAS To promote the development and maintenance of an efficient, economic, and coordinated gas industry. WATER To protect the interests of water and sewerage consumers by promoting an efficient industry which delivers high quality services.

GNI (UK) – Subsidiary of Gas Networks Ireland

GNI (UK) is a gas transmission system owner and operator in Northern Ireland (“NI”), as well as owner and operator in GB of gas interconnectors to the Republic of Ireland (“RoI”). We are a subsidiary of Gas Networks Ireland, the national gas network operator in RoI. We do not own the gas; we transport it on behalf of suppliers and shippers. In NI, our transmission system connects many of the region’s towns and villages, including those within the firmus energy and Phoenix Energy distribution networks, as well as Coolkeergah power station.

SONI - System Operator Northern Ireland

SONI is the electricity transmission system operator for Northern Ireland. It’s role is to operate the transmission system, or the electricity grid as it’s better known, every minute of every day to ensure electricity can flow from where it is generated to where it is needed at the lowest price possible for the Northern Ireland consumer.

Road Haulage Association and the Logistics Industry

The Road Haulage Association (RHA) is a leading trade association representing over 8,500 road haulage, coach and van companies across the UK, 85% of whom are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It’s members are operators of vehicles who, between them, operate around 250,000 HGVs (half of the UK fleet) out of 10,000 operating centres and range from a single-truck company to those with thousands of vehicles.
